Living Well
We’re in the midst of transitioning from Spring to Summer. The earth is filled with growth and promise: there are glorious flowers peeking through the soil and nutrient dense fruits and vegetables simmering just below the surface.
For some Canadians – the Woodland and Rocky Cree, for example – this transitional time is a season itself: Minoskamin or “break-up season” signifying the time the ice is breaking up in the rivers, and marked by specific hunting and harvesting practices in response to natural animal migrations and plant growth.
And while you may not be a hunter or harvesting edible plants from your own land, it is the perfect time to transition your dietary practices: to source and buy local meats and produce. To prepare and enjoy fresh foods. Simple and raw when possible.

A time to shed some layers of clothing, a layer of stress, and get outside whenever the sunshine and mild weather beckons. You might even be able to find a shady spot to set up your laptop for a few hours. Or enjoy nibbling on your local fare if the clouds and bugs permit.
Much like all of you, we too are heading into a season of transition. We’ve changed the name of these blogs back to Living Well – our more traditional name – and will be adjusting the frequency of sending these blogs and emails to reflect a summer schedule. You can still expect the same fun content including workouts, recipes, and information about live classes, just less frequently.

HUB Smoothie of the Day
Breakfast smoothies are such a great way of packing more vegetables into your diet. Especially when rhubarb is in season! I pulled too much out of my garden last night to make a sour cream cake, so threw it in a smoothie this morning. A delicious, vitamin K rich wake up!

- 1/2 cup rhubarb chopped
- 1/2 cup strawberries
- 1 banana
- 1/4 cup raw cashews
- 1/2 cup cashew, almond, or coconut milk
- 1 cup ice
Makes 2 servings
